About Old Trafford:
The scottish architect Archibald Leitch who has made more than 20 stadiums (Stamford Bridge, Arsenal, Celtic among others) got the prestigious job to design Old Trafford in the year 1909. Old Trafford had a capacity of 80 000 spectators and the first game was played between Manchester United and Liverpool ending 3-4 to Liverpool, but Man U still won the league this season. The Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton later coined the name "The Theatre of Dreams".
After decades of success and glory the WWII began. Old Trafford was bombed and it took 8 years to rebuild the stadium. After the rebuild many improvements were made to the stadium through the years. Floodlights, roof over the stands och extensions to the stadium. The capacity in the year 1985 was 56,380. When the stadium was made an all-seater in 1992 the capacity decreased to 44,000. This is the lowest in Old Traffords history. After this the capacity have increased steadily and now holds over 75,000. Today Old Trafford is an iconic stadium and a must visit for all football lovers.
Stands:
Sir Alex Ferguson Stand - Formerly known as "The United Road Stand". Has three levels and a capacity of 26,000 spectators. Positioned in the north side och is Old Traffords largest stand. Was renamed "Sir Alex Ferguson Stand" on November 5th 2011
when Alex Ferguson had been the clubs manager for 25 years.
Sir Bobby Charlton Stand - Positioned in the south side and formerly known as the "South Stand". This is the place for VIP's thats visiting the games.
West Stand - Also called "Stretford End". This is where the hardcore fans are gathered and many loud fans from the old "K-stand" has moved here.
East Stand - Away fans. Also known as "The scoreboard End" because the scoreboard is located here.
